Walking from Europe to America

I wanted to question the idea of the different interpretations of the concept ‘borders’ in my work: natural, state and linguistic borders.

This is a series of works about the concept of borders and my relationship to them, natural, state and linguistic. In 1996, I took pinhole photographs on the Reykjanes Ridge in Iceland, a part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge separating the Eurasian and North-American earth plates. By depicting the human body as a fragile object walking and jumping over these gigantic earth plates, I wanted to demonstrate the inherent supremacy of nature.
